3. Reading- read AND record 20 minutes in reading log. Students can read for longer, but a minimum of 20 minutes MUST be completed every night.

Friday, September 30
1. Writing- 2 paragraphs on journal topic
2. Reading- read AND record 20 minutes every day for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (total of 60 minutes/ 1 hour)
3. If students receive a grade below an A on any tests, they will receive extra practice worksheets that they MUST do for homework and hand in on Monday.
4. Empty out homework folders of ALL graded papers. Only new homework and tests should be in homework folders.

* Parents need to sign tests and return on Monday.
* Please check with your child/their planner for any Islamic Studies homework.

*The teacher holds the right to change homework assignments. Students will be told in advanced if any changes will be made.

Information About Tests

About 2-3 tests will be given each marking period for Math, Science, and Social Studies. For English Language Arts students will take weekly tests (about 7-8 each marking period) on spelling/vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. At the end of the marking period, I will drop one of the lowest grades in spelling/vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. If students are absent on test days, they have to be ready to take the tests when they come back to school. Concepts on these tests have been already taught throughout the week and students should study/review to prepare for their tests.

*Tests CANNOT be retaken and any extra credit given will be determined by the teacher.

Unit 1 Week 2 Comprehension Assessment

Friday, September 30
1. Spelling/ Vocabulary Test (Unit 1 Week 2)
Students should study using their Spelling/Vocabulary "cheat sheet" or notebook.

2. Grammar Test (commands and exclamations)
Students have practiced what the test will cover in classwork and homework throughout the week. Students should look over these at home and participate in reviews in class i.e. games, worksheets, etc. 

*If students receive any grade below an A on their comprehension or grammar test, they will receive extra practice worksheets that MUST be completed over the weekend and turned in on Monday.
*The teacher holds the right to change test dates. Students will be told in advanced if any changes will be made.

Homework

Homework should be done completely by students. Of course parents can help by explaining, but all answers should come from the students. Just like on classwork, I want students to TRY their best :)

I said this in class, but I will say it again here in case my students ever forget. If you want full credit on your spelling/vocabulary sentences:

1. Capitalize and punctuate correctly. The beginning of a sentence should ALWAYS have a capital letter. Add periods, exclamation, or question marks at the END to match your sentence.

2. Underline the spelling/vocab. words in your sentences.

3. Spell all the words correctly. There is no reason to spell these words wrong because you can check your "cheat sheet" or paper with the spelling word definitions.

4. Write specific sentences with details. If a spelling word is clap, please do NOT just write "I clap my hands." I clap my hands when I am satisfied with a show is much better. Remember, if I can ask a question about your sentence (who, what, where, when, why, how) or add because, that means you didn't write enough details.

5. Write in your BEST handwriting. I don't want to struggle to read your AWESOME work ;)
