* Empty out homework folders of ALL graded papers. Only new homework and SIGNED tests should be in homework folders.

This test will have questions on cause and effect and idioms.

Friday, January 13
1. Spelling/ Vocabulary Test
Students should study using their Spelling/Vocabulary "cheat sheet" or notebook.

2. Grammar Test
Students should look over all graded grammar worksheets on verb tenses. Students should be familiar with all the rules that are listed in the textbox on top of their grammar worksheets.

*The teacher holds the right to change test dates. Students will be told in advanced if any changes will be made.
*If students are absent on a test day, they should be ready to take the test the day they come back to school.

December's Student of the Month

One student in 3rd grade will be chosen by me (Sr. Sabrina) every month this year to be the Student of the Month.

Congratulations Daut!!! I am VERY proud of you :) 

Daut is known for always participating and has made great improvements in comprehension this past month. He is also helpful, energetic, and very enthusiastic. Keep up the EXCELLENT work and behavior Daut!!!

Using your SS book, fill in the chart below with the name of an explorer that BEST fits each description.

	Spanish	He was sent to China in 1492 to look for spices which helped food from spoiling.	He thought he reached the East Indies near southern China, but he really landed in Florida. He set up a settlement on the island of Hispaniola.
	French	He went searching for a water route to Asia.	He sailed the St. Lawrence River in 1535.
	French	He went searching for a water route to Asia.	He explored the St. Lawrence region and the Great Lakes. He also found Quebec City in 1608 and formed good relationships with Native Americans.
	French	In 1634, he tried to find the Northwest passage to India, a water route that would link the Atlantic and pacific oceans.	He did not find what he was looking for, but he explored Lake Michigan.
	French	He went searching for a water route to Asia.	He explored the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River. In 1682, he claimed the entire Mississippi region for France.

	Spanish	He wanted to find the legendary Fountain of Youth spring.	He did not find the fountain, but in 1513, he landed near Florida and took control of the land for Spain. He was the 1st European to explore St. Augustine (FL).
	Spanish	He was sent to explore and settle Florida to keep the king’s ships safe from enemy attacks.	He built a fort (Castillo de San Marcos) in an area protected from the ocean and started a settlement (St. Augustine).
